Location Blocking

Bedroom Scene
This is the scene I am using for the scene shot in the bedroom as it seems like a typical teenagers bedroom and is fairly well lit.

Police Inspector Scene
This room creates the homely, comforting vibe that I am trying to communicate.

Woods Running/Searching Scene
I am using a woods for the scenes where they are looking for Lizzy, as it connotes danger and mystery.

Woods Running Scene
The low-key, shadowy lighting of this setting is suitable for the scene as it is eerie and mysterious.

Poster Drafts

The first poster fulfils the demands of my demographic who wanted a group shot in the poster. It also gives the audience an insight into the relationship between the characters, and also gives them an idea of their personalities, as the long shot allows the audience to see their outfits. It also has a red masthead which is part of the colour scheme that my demographic requested. For these reasons, I will use this template for my poster.

The second poster goes slightly against my demographics request as it is a close-up, however, a close-up was a close second. It follows the dark colour scheme and uses low-key lighting, which was requested by my demographic. It has a red title and credits, which was another popular colour in my survey. However, I want to introduce the other characters in the poster, as they appear more in the actual film/trailer, therefore, I will not use this template for my poster.

This poster introduces all the characters, and the long shot allows the audience to establish the relationship between them and get an understanding about their personalities. However, the logistics of this poster would be difficult as it would need to be taken from outside a window and therefore there is a risk of having a reflection of a sun glare. Additionally, this photo would be difficult to light as the lighting outside is unreliable and an artificial light could not be used on such a large area.

Magazine Cover Drafts

The first poster is unconventional as it has 3 cover stars which means that it also goes against the results of my survey, as my demographic requested a close-up of the protagonist for the feature article photograph. Additionally, the blue colours do not connote the mystery genre very successfully and contrast with the red colour scheme that was desired by my demographic in my survey.

The second poster matches the results of my demographic survey, and therefore will be appealing to them. The black, white and red colour scheme successfully portrays the mystery genre as red connotes danger. The cover line is a unique interesting font that fits in with the mystery genre. Therefore this is the magazine cover that I will use.

The third poster is fairly conventional and also follows a colour scheme that connotes the mystery genre. The red cover line connotes danger and the font has a dangerous, mysterious feel. However, my demographic wanted a close-up and this cover uses a mid-shot.

Creating Brand Synergy

In order to create continuity between by triad of media products, I will the same/similar aspects throughout them. For example:

  • The font will be the same on the captions in the trailer as the title on the poster and cover lines on the magazine front cover.
  • I will use the same characters in all three products to allow the audience to become familiar with them.
  • The colour scheme will run throughout all three products to create an overall house style: this will be dark, eerie colours with pops of red to connote danger.
  • They will all connote fear and vulnerability through images of the protagonist so it is clear that she is in danger.
  • The dramatic, fast pace of the trailer will be paralleled in the poster and magazine using very dark, low-key lighting to create harsh, dramatic contrasts.
